Heh, you knew I had to make this one Saber.
This is the thread where you post wich fighter you think is the most superior in specs, it's not a favorites thread, it's wich fighter is statisctically the best.
When it somes to fighter-on=fighter or all-around, it's the TIE Defender.
Ground support- TIE predator
Bombing- the Scurrg H-6
This is a thread open for debates and stuff, but keep it nice.

When it comes to all around superiority, yeah definitely the Defender, though the X-wing and the TIE Advanced(Avenger) definitely tie as a close second. Personally I prefer the X-wing overall, if you ever play any games where you fly a Defender it has to much play, you have to continually over or under compensate for your manuevers though it's speed is unparalled.
Best bomber I would have to say is the K-wing Bomber, definitely.
The Best Heavy Assault fighter would have to be the B-wing.

The K-wing has a lot of weapons, but no hyperdrive or shields, and requires a second pilot, I like the scurrg much better.
for heavy assault, the B-wing is great, but i like the TIE Oppressor, It's laser cannons are equal, but has a huge load of torpedoes for busting through shields, so no need for the ion cannons, and it's much more fast and manuverable, and with the rear turret can dogfight.
For all around I'd rate the Oppressor up there with the X-wing and Avenger.

I haven't read any EU books. I really have no idea some of the ships you're talking about are.

I've read a lot of EU books but none with those craft in them.

The TIE Defender appears in the Game TIE Fighter and X-wing Alliance, it is also in the X-wing books and the last two NJO books.
The TIE Oppressor appears in the comics (can't remember wich one)
The Scurrg is in the Gamg Starfighter and also in the Naboo comics and clone war comics
The Defender and the Scurrg are also described in the New Essential Guide the Vehicles and Vessels.

When it somes to fighter-on=fighter or all-around, it's the Death Star
Ground support- Death Star
Bombing- Death Star
Now, I know Luke blew the thing, but if they had only put a few more guns on it to shoot fighters as well as Capital ships, then the Death Star would be unstopible (With the execption of a Jedi trained pilot).
(Yes, I know this is a Starfighter Superiority thread, but with the force on your side, even the death star could become a Star fighter).
For real this time:
When it somes to fighter-on=fighter or all-around, it's the X-wing. I only say this, because the X-wing pilots seem to fight harder, because they are fighting to stop evil.
Ground support- Any large fighter with a lot of guns. the Y-wing and X-wing come to mind.
Bombing- The B-wing a nice sized fighter to get the job done.
I don't care much for stats(ex: what fighter preforms better) because it really depends on the pilot. (The Falcon is a good ship in the hands of Han Solo, but C-3PO and R2-D2 are something else with it.)

If you start saying that, I could say put luke skywalker in a TIE Defender. It's stupid, that's beginning to make it a favorites and spamming thread, cuz you can't argue it, because of course it depends on the pilot, but with EQUAL pilots, wich fighter is statistically superior?

but with EQUAL pilots, wich fighter is statistically superior? Any Imperial ship. They had the best minds and hardware in the galaxy. Statistically, they should have won the civil war.

No not really, very few Imp pilot's lasted longer than a year because they were killed since their fighters lacked shields.

I wonder what on earth the Imps were thinking when they designed fighters with no shields.

at first there was no real opposition, they just needed fighters to keep planets in fear, so a cheap, mass-produced fighter was best, then, the rebels came, and the empire found those fighters didn't work, wich is why things like the TIE Advanced, Avenger, and Defender were made. I agree, in numbers and technology, the imps should've one, but Vader wimped out and Luke got all strong.

No not really, very few Imp pilot's lasted longer than a year because they were killed since their fighters lacked shields. Yes, but they had strength in numbers. A galaxy backing them, a planet to clone for them...ah, well.
